Ag Bag Drag

The Biggest Event of the Year

Ag Bag Drag is the University of Saskatchewan’s annual agricultural student cabaret, organized by the Agricultural Students’ Association (ASA). First held in 1951, it has grown into one of the most iconic and best-attended student events on campus. Traditionally hosted on the last weekend of October, it is the single largest source of funding for the ASA, helping support student initiatives, events, and community projects throughout the year. The event is represented by its beloved mascot, the Ag Bag Drag Goose, which has become a symbol of the celebration’s energy, humour, and tradition.

Entertainment & Atmosphere

At its core, Ag Bag Drag is about live music, dancing, and socializing. It is known for high-production performances that showcase some of the best country music artists in the world, alongside a mix of rising stars and local legends. Over the years, headliners have included acts like Chad Brownlee, The Washboard Union, Nice Horse, Alex Runions, and Chris Henderson. Each year offers something fresh, making the cabaret a highlight of the fall semester for students, alumni, and the Saskatoon community alike.

Community & Partnerships

Ag Bag Drag is entirely student-run, but it relies on the broader community for its success. The ASA regularly partners with sponsors, local businesses, and entertainers to bring the event to life. Traditions

Ag Bag Drag is steeped in long-standing student traditions that foster camaraderie and a bit of friendly rivalry. One of the most famous is the Drag Car, which involves painting cars and “stealing” them between lower and upper year students. Rivalries extend beyond the college, with agriculture students attempting to “steal” the engineering students’ Tank Car as part of the fun. Once stolen, cars are often painted in new colours and designs, adding to the spectacle and spirit of the event.

Another key tradition is the Drag Slogan and Logo Contest, where students come up with creative phrases, rhyming with the year of the event, that are then printed on limited-edition t-shirts. These shirts are sold and handed out at the cabaret, making them coveted keepsakes for students and alumni. The contest encourages creativity and engagement, ensuring that every year’s Drag has a unique identity.
